2048 is possibly the worst game...ever!
After about 350 losing attempts, the most frustrating and yet addictive game has been owned! I will now happily move forward with the uninstall.

The Game of Washers

This is a little...okay, a lot...late but when I was on vacation in Taos, NM a couple of years ago I entered a Wal-Mart looking for one thing and happened upon these little gems.
This is what we poor people call the game of washers. Before they became a product at Wal-Mart, Target, and wherever else, these washers were randomly found at hardware or plumbing stores or maybe just by dumb luck.
My dad created a "course" in the backyard of our house out of the bottom of a dual burner gas grill and some washers that were like 2-3 cms thick, about 2-3" in diameter with a center hole about a 1/2" in diameter. I don't know where my dad found these washers because you can't find them anywhere nowadays. They cannot be found exactly like I remember nor can they be found similar in size and weight. They are either too thin or too light and typically none in 3" diameter. They at least can't be found at your local Lowe's, Home Depot or Ace Hardware stores.
Anyway, this is a really fun pasttime for the family. It's similar to horeshoes in scoring and play (tossing something on to something else). When I was in junior high school, the coaches made the game out of an empty can goods can. Again, the washers weren't the same in size and weight as the ones my dad had but the ones they had served the purpose. It was fun playing a game that these adults were new to that I was used to playing my entire life.
When I saw this package in the Wal-Mart, I had to buy it. Even if I didn't have a 'course' set up to play it on it was worth already having the washers because the holes are easy to construct out of just about anything. It wasn't until months later when I got back to Dallas that I saw these again at Target. However, this time they were part of a set and it wasn't exactly the same game I grew up playing. There are tons of variations but none will replace the game of old. Some of the variations are similar in set up to the old game.
There's just nothing like sliding or bouncing a washer from about 10 inches in front of the hole into the hole. Or having a washer toilet bowl the hole to either make it close or inside the hole. Some of the variations now are set up to where you have make a hole-in-one to get a point or points. That's not the fun part of it. The fun part is being able to knock the opponents washer away from the hole if it's closer than your washer OR making a sinker. The sinker isn't the end all be all.
Anyway, that's my brief walk down memory lane that only took me two years to type about. I'm glad to see it the washers game coming (or came) back. I guess we should thank tailgating and it's appreciation of any game that can be made into a drinking game.

Rock'em Sock'em
Rock'em Sock'em. I remember this little game when I was a kid. It was pretty fun and I remember getting into many fights with my older brother just above me (I have 4 and he's 3 yrs older). I think I've actually seen this game in the stores when it made a sort of resurgence. The difference is the game/ring was actually much bigger than the ones I've seen recently. I've seen them at say 6"-8" square but we had one that was more like 12" square.
Pretty cool!

Since I mentioned the movie I'll add a quick review. The movie started out with the typical bar scene where the boyfriend hits on the girlfriend but pretending like they don't know each other. She takes his shaky attempts in stride then mocks him and walks away. He follows her and is a little more was aggressive this time and they end up having sex in the bar's men's room. Move on to the first Christmas with his family. Freakin' hilarious. Loved it. The movie went slightly downhill from there as it turned more to a serious overtone as the movie progressed. The movie is still worth seeing but the first Christmas will leave a lasting impression (Jon Favreau goes up and down in the fitness realm and Tim McGraw doesn't say much but was funny just with his expressions and all. Robert Duvall funny as the father) and then the Christmas at Reese's character's mother's is pretty funny as well. After that, it is just an okay movie.
I do have to say that Reese Witherspoon is still hot. Kristin Chenoweth(sp?) is hot and sports cleavage the entire time she's on screen. Vince Vaughn plays very close to his standard rambling, fast-speaking character he plays in almost all of his movies so he's not quite as typical (and annoying) as in some of his movies after his first few that he introduced the "Vince character."
So, overall it was a pretty good movie. It's not a chick flick but more of a (semi-)romantic comedy. I wouldn't have been happy to pay $10 at the theater but not many movies would I. I got this from my coworker who got it from her Blockbuster Total Access membership. Free for me means always good for me.

Gameful at GameStop
Made my visit to GameStop to see about getting my disks for Infamous and Batman:Arkhan Asylum. The guy clerk was pretty friendly about it.
He asked for my receipt stating that he didn't believe me but he wanted to see who the salesperson was.
I jokingly asked, "So, is this a recurring issue lately?"
He said, "Well, we do have a new person that started and I bet it was Emily."
I said while handing my receipt over without looking at it, "You know, it was Emily!" I knew this because I remember making it a point to stare at her name tag which just happened to be very close to her cleavage. I made sure to check her name as she was very nice, enthusiastic and overall helpful in helping me make my game-purchasing decisions.
He chuckled. Apologized profusely and got my game disks.
I said, "It was no problem" and went on my merry way. All was good.

Gameless at GameStop
I stopped by my local Game Stop store last night. I purchased three previously-owned games. They are running a special, "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" on previously-owned games. I purchased Infamous, Batman Arkham Asylum and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I just got a chance to open up the games and it turns out I don't have the disks for Infamous and Arkham Asylum. WTF?
I sure as hell hope there is some way to match my cases with the game disks. Otherwise, I will be quite mad at spending $70 for plastic cases!!
I don't think there should be a problem but who the hell knows with stores these days. We'll find out about 10am.

Tony Hawk Ride for Wii
I bought my kids a Wii for Christmas. Walmart was running a deal that started Saturday, Dec 5th and I think runs until the 12th. You buy the Wii for $199 and they throw in a $50 Walmart gift card. I'd say that's a pretty good promotion.
Now that I have a Wii, I was looking for games to buy that are rated well for the kids (and me)! So, I stopped on over at GameSpot to do some research. On the Wii page, I saw this game, Tony Hawk Ride, and I was shocked. I don't think I've ever seen a Tony Hawk game rated so badly. I thought it was the Tony Hawk golden touch for all his games. But it seems he's lost that touch. I didn't read the review because if it isn't rated at least a 7.5 then it's really not worth my time to even take a look.
I have a PS3 but apparently I have to have more game systems like I did when I was young (Sega Genesis, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Dreamcast). I would like the Xbox360 next but we'll see.
You can never have too many gaming systems, right?

BustedTees.com
The things you find when you are Googling something and find something else of interest. I was looking up "hoodies" even though it wasn't the word I was really looking for and I saw these at BustedTees. If these weren't $30, it might be worth purchasing a little humor.
If you don't get the references, then you don't know what the hell a Nintendo is nor do you have an inclination to what humor was in the 90s.
RANDOM INTERJECTION: Why do people put an apostrophe after the zero and before 's' when referencing a 10s decade? See, we don't reference the number places of 1s, 10s, 100s, 1000s with an apostrophe so why decades? I mean how many times have you seen "The 90's" as in "I Love The 90's?" 90's isn't showing possession of anything like "That 70's Show." 70's in this context to me shows what show it is - like Tom's Show. AHA! Maybe that's it. Maybe the noun the 90's is describing is understood like in commands such as "Sit here." The "you" is understood so you don't have to say, "You sit here." Hmmmmm...?

Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs
I was watching some of tonight's game between the Mavericks and the Spurs on My 21. They lost by the way. They sucked, got better but then sucked again. I don't know how many shots/points Nowitzki made but if he would have made more of the attempts that I saw he missed, the Mavs may have actually gotten the lead and possibly won.
Anyway, one of the shots I saw from Ginobli of the Spurs was an arcing 2-pointer that got wedged between the left-side of the rim and the backboard. Apparently when this happens, it's a center court jump ball. Why? In my opinion, this should constitute a turnover. To me, it's no different than an air ball or rim shot that bounces out of bounds. Or maybe a ball that hits the rim but bounces over the backboard which ends up being a dead ball and a turnover.
It just doesn't seem to be a valid reason to have a jump ball to me. But what do I know?

In the news 11/05/2009
The headline read:
Story here for as long as it lasts.
Yankees Win World Series: New York Beats Phillies For Record 27th ChampionshipWTF? I didn't even know the World Series was even going on. Is this a sign that I am truly not a baseball fan, AT ALL, or that baseball isn't really that important of a sport anymore? America's Favorite Pastime past time? Maybe the economy? Maybe I just really live under a rock? Maybe...

New sales gimmick (Rooms To Go)
I guess whatever it takes to get the people inside the stores. I'm not sure that an at least $800+ kid's bedroom suite is worth spending for a free $299 Xbox 360. Of course, I'm sure their "special bedroom packages" are way more than $800!I recently purchased a new dining room table with eight chairs (yes, it's that fucking big). I signed up for notifications via email. I don't mind as it's not my main email. I really don't care to receive them but you never know when you might get that "special" deal. Most of the "deals" are crap for me because I'm not prompted to buy things from subliminal advertising. If I need something, I go look. If I find something I like that I needed, I buy it. Simple as that.
Anyway, I just thought it was funny to see a furniture store throwing in a free Xbox 360 to basically bribe people to buy kid's room furniture. They might have something especially for the rich people with kids. If a rich brat complains and whines enough, the rich parents will give in just to shut them the fuck up.
Oh well, it's not like it's the first time I've seen such "bribery" to get people buying shit they don't need.

Who can take a slapshot and not cry?
I CAN!
This is my belly after getting hit in the gut from a slapshot before my championship old-man's hockey game last week. To top it off, it was a slapshot from my teammate and he was supposed to shoot it at or near the net so I could tip it with my stick. Needless to say the no-aiming fool did not execute it well. It's a good thing that 1) I jumped otherwise it would probably have hit me in the chest and 2) that I didn't jump too high otherwise it would have hit square on the frank and beans! You can see that it was just below my belly button...the sort of black hole above the bruise. LOL!

Snuffer's Restaurant
I just got back into the office a little bit ago from going to lunch with my boss and co-boss at Snuffer's on Lower Greenville. Check the info here and here.
I love this place. It's good, down-home-death in a basket. Freakin' awesome! My bosses took me there for my birthday lunch since I wasn't here on Friday, my actual birth date.
I got the Swiss, mushroom burger. Cooked medium. It came out pretty red/pink but I don't care. I actually like it that way but my boss got the same burger and my co-boss got the cheddar burger and the medium was not cooked enough for them. It really wasn't medium compared to other restaurants because the patty is so thick.
Anyway, we also had a large side of cheese fries with chives and bacon bits. No jalapenos for this guy!
It was a good lunch meal. And for me, it was free since they paid. It made it a good day to return to work after two weeks of vacation!
Afterward, we walked across the street to Condom Sense. A friend and coworker of ours got "married" - too much to explain right now. The co-boss wanted to get him a sort of gag wedding gift and she thought she'd find it at Condom Sense. It's the first time I've been in one of these establishments and I don't think the bosses were the people to go there with but it's a good thing we are 'friends' and get along outside of work as well as at work.
Basically, it's a sex shop. It has DVDs, toys, props, lotions and anything else you might find at a true adult store. It doesn't have the huge selection of these items that may be at bigger and actual adult stores but, needless to say, it's an adult sex shop. I've seen some interesting things in my life and I've seen even more today.
We left without a gift but I did leave thinking that I could name at least half of the female porn stars whose images grace the various products. Scary!

GTA 4: The Ballad of Gay Tony

Rockstar has announced the second expansion coming to Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360 will be titled "The Ballad of Gay Tony."Click here for as long as the story lasts.
So, this is great news that they are continuing the game series but what about the Playstation 3 folks? I mean, GTA was originally a game just for the Playstation, then the Playstation 2.
Is Sony neglecting it's initial target and LOYAL audience!? Bastards!

What the hell is all that screaming at the French Open?
Oh! It's Maria Sharapova actually having a reason to scream (yell)! She got her ass totally thrashed by a 5'2" mighty mouse, Dominika Cibulkova. I was hoping Sharapova would lose 6-0, 6-0 but I think Cibulkova got a little nervous and excited serving out the match the first time.
No worries! The screamer is gone. I can't stand watching her play tennis...well, when she's screaming so much.
It's a pity too because she's a pretty good player when she's not injured. It's just sometimes, most times, I wish she would put a gosh darn muzzle on it!!
Oh well.

Frog Leap Test
Here is a little 'test' that is (supposedly) part of a second grade Computer class in China. Some figure it out right away. Others report having to work on it for a week (or more) to solve it.
Frog Leap Test
Personally, I think if it takes you more than an hour you should just step in front of a bus because you are a dumb ass!
Otherwise, have fun!

I'm in love with a stripper
Not really. I just thought that would be a catchy title.
She's our office receptionist and I'm not in love with her. Maybe she is a stripper on the side. I really don't know. She's like 50, married with two adult children but I'd let her pop my MILF cherry. Hey, the wife said she thought she was an attractive woman too!
I don't pine for her. She pines for me...not really...but she could.
Anyway, today I had to touch her "middle body" as it was described to me. We were at our company picnic and she and two other women decided that the four of us needed to join the Mummy Wrap competition. If you don't know what that is, it's just four people; 1 "mummy" and 3 wrappers that take a roll of toilet paper each and wrap the mummy. The recept (this is how I'll refer to her) was the mummy. One woman was shorter than I and she claimed the legs. The other claimed the head even though we are about the same height - I think she didn't want to bend at all. That left me to the middle body. I told the two other women that were with us that I didn't feel totally comfortable as the middle body included what I commonly refer to as boobs! And as I am a "wrapper," my hands, arms, whatever will be coming across these boobs and I'm not sure that is an appropriate thing to occur. The recept said that she thought I would handle it just fine.
DAMN! I think she wanted me to accidentally touch her boobs! We'll never know for sure.
So, the whistle blows to start the wrapping. I think I actually did a pretty good job and the recept complemented me on it as well even though we lost. I did way better than she who was wrapping the head and a little better than the leg wrapper. I also did well to minimize the boob grazing which wasn't too difficult since she's probably only a B-cup or big A-cup. I don't know how those things are measured...palm-sized, handful, gazongas? Although, if it was my wife or in a different environment, my wandering hands could have gone out of control.
That was about all the excitement for the day I can handle. Now that I am back in the office, I feel like I could take a nap until Saturday morning tennis.
