Test post from iPad (06/08/14)

I'm trying to find out ways to blog from my new iPad with various apps versus using the Google app or via the web interface. I've tried doing it thru Chrome and it doesn't allow me to upload a picture from my iPad photos.

The world is full of perverts

The following screen captures are statistics from my blog. Specifically, they are the search words, terms, phrases that people have used that directed them to my blog. It's amazing how many people have visited since I put a few words and pictures to some attractive actresses.

Who should you ignore?

Whether it's a comment on a blog post or an article in the paper/on the web, how can you quickly decipher which people to ignore completely if you care to acknowledge them at all?

Today just happened to be a day where I was reading a few articles/posts with comments and I noticed something: America (and maybe somewhat abroad) is full of non-spelling idiots!

First of all, I don't profess to know how to spell every word. If I don't use them, I usually don't know how to spell them or if I use them verbally, I can always hit F7 while in MS Word or do a search for it on the WWW.

Second, these misspellings aren't hard to spell words, big words, or words with hidden consonants or vowels.

Third, I'm not saying people don't make random mistakes like typing an 'I' before an 'E' or any inadvertent swapping or omission of letters. I'm talking just a general misunderstanding of what word to correctly use and then correctly spelling it.

So, one of the most common misspelled words I have found in comments is:
  • definately instead of definitely
  • loose instead lose
  • chose instead choose
  • there instead of their
There are more but I can't remember them all at this time. The worst violators are the ones that brag about being educated and/or even a teacher of some sort and then they type definately — That's when I sarcastically think, "Yeah, I'm glad you are teaching someone's kid smarty pants."

Anyway, that's all I got to say about that...for now.

Blogger versus Wordpress

So, I have a two blogs: one on Blogger and one on Wordpress. They are essentially a copy of each other. That's more true than you think because I actually post in one or the other and copy the post to one or the other. It's truly a pain in the ass.

Sometimes I reference previous posts and those references have to point to their respective links on each host. Otherwise, I'll be directing people form Blogger to Wordpress and vice versa. As far as images, in the past, I would upload to Blogger which is tied to my Gmail photo account and keep those references the same since the picture location never changed. I see lately though that Wordpress puts these images on their server somewhere because the link now has a Wordpress.com address in it.

In the past, I used to import from Blogger into Wordpress. It worked fantastically for some time and then one time I noticed the import looked fine but it somehow screwed up how the Blogger blog looked. My margins were jacked. The text was jacked. The images were jacked. Everything was way effed up! I couldn't handle the non-uniformity of it and had to created a "mirror" blog on Blogger. I copied and pasted almost all my posts...yes, one at a time...because I didn't know of a more efficient way or if there even was one.

So, longer story short. I just post in one and then copy and paste into the other because I don't want to screw up the formatting.

I am too cheap, and poor, to pay for web hosting and just have each service point to my server. I have used free server-type software for creating a basic website (only basic in the sense that I didn't put too much effort into it because I am always busy and can't dedicate a whole lot of time to it) where I could access my music, photos, random software and other stuff. I even was able to password protect the initial logon. It was pretty cool.

Anyway, back on track for the reason of this post...I don't understand why the two services can't play more nicely together or intergrate some of the other's features into their own. I know there is some tech or marketing guy from each company that has created an account on the other company's product where they can get the user's view to steal implement new ideas.

I actually started on Blogger. I guess it was actually MySpace but I used it just to browse random "spaces" and connect with family/friends but it was just too convoluted. The way people would upload so much extraneous shit into their MySpace page like music, videos, and pictures made their page load painfully slow. I ended up creating accounts across many mediums because in my job we (I) need to stay abreast of ways to market and communicate to a wide variety of people in the cheapest and easist way.

The simplicity of Blogger is why I selected them for a personal site. There was Typepad and some others but I just like the ease of learning and using with Blogger. Word for Blogger was another awesome idea and then blogging via email was a step in the right direction.

Then I found Wordpress. It was different and a little niftier in the admin side. I saw that email to Wordpress was possible although sometimes it is hit or miss for me. I think it's because it doesn't like it if I put my Wordpress posting email second or if it likes to be alone period! But why would I want to send the same post via email twice when I would think multiple TOs on my Blackberry would be enough.

Anyway, I like the many different templates you can use/get for Blogger. I like how you can customize the coding as well to add hit counters, links, among other things. Wordpress doesn't allow this level of customization with their free version. Which is ridiculous to pay for me to add things in. Luckily, Wordpress has the stats in the dashboard which is a fantastic tool. I haven't dove very deeply into it but what I've used and clicked on is quite informative. I wish Blogger had this as part of their program.

Again, for me, there are likes and dislikes from both of them. I just wish they would implement the same tools or at least their version of a tool.

To bring my rant to a close, I have a Blogger and a Wordpress address for the same exact blog. If anyone is happy with the import into Wordpress, if it's been improved and won't jack up my Blogger pages, please let me know. I would much better import from one to the other than copy and paste entire posts at a time...although copy/paste makes me update it sooner/quicker than importing. If anyone has ideas on how to use one to "feed" off the other like if it was hosted somewhere else...I don't know the correct jargon, please let me know.

Simplicity is the key for me. Thanks!

I do have a heart

I was over on Wordpress looking at a "Freshly Pressed" post. The post is here.

I commented on the post but I didn't have the balls to submit my comment. Okay, I really did but I didn't want to.

My comment was really a rant. I think it was productive but it was also very opinionated and judgmental. Both things that I am and should have posted as such but then I started thinking. What if...

No particular "What if..." but any. My mind raced. My thoughts bounced here and there until I came to an epiphany (definition 3a-3). I thought, "I'll save this person from my ranting, berating, criticizing comment and post it on my blog instead."

So, read her post here and then relate it to my comment below:
I'm not a doctor but I play one (among other characters) in the show that goes on inside my head. Although I don't understand how parents give up or lose control, I don't judge (okay I do a little but that's just the way I am).

This is learned behavior. I assume that she knows you will clean it for her or eventually just "let it go." My kids occasionally do the same and I have to lay down the law: no TV, no computer, no phone, no friends over, no going anywhere, no nothing until the room is clean. It's amazing when you tell them they can't do the things THEY want to do how quickly they do the things YOU want them to do.

Kids need to be free but they need to know that there are guidelines that need to be met for this "freedom." I bet your daughter still enjoys her life, her friends, her whatever while being overwhelmed.

She clearly has a lot of clothing, a TV, and trinkets and things but she doesn't seem to appreciate them or you. Don't you think she could show a little respect to the people who allow and provide her the ability and means to enjoy life!?

I apologize if I come across harsh, condemning and judgmental. It just irks me to see this. I can't watch The SuperNanny or The Dog Whisperer without wanting to clobber a few mothers, fathers, and owners. I then want to slap me some kids or pets for being disrespectful and not appreciating the "pack leader(s)."

I just feel like I didn't decide to be a parent or pet owner to let them control me or for me to give up when they don't respect me. It frustrates me because I know I give everything for my family (pet included) and for them to not at least attempt the same, boils my blood.

Again, sorry for the rant. I'm sure your daughter is otherwise a wonderful kid as they all are. They just have these teeny, tiny little issues that should be obvious to them but aren't.

Talking on your cell phone while in a restroom stall

Is it weird? My boss thinks so. She told me a few minutes ago that someone was talking on her cell phone in one of the stalls when she was in the women's restroom.

I wonder what she'd say to blogging while in a stall going #2.

Maybe it's the audible part that weirds her out instead of what the actual activity is. I wonder if silent masturbation would be okay?

Now that weirds me out and I'm the one that typed it.

Blogs blogs everywhere

I wish I could get paid to read blogs. Unlike mine which is always exciting, engaging, interesting and enjoyable like an everlasting gobstopper :-P, some have a few interesting posts and then a few non-interesting ones. Good with bad/bad with good, it's the way of the world and it can't be helped.

I just find it interesting to read about other people's experiences, opinions, rants, and raves. Sometimes, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who turns most every spoken phrase into something dirty (like a hockey commentator saying, "He's a wizard with his stick!" or "He really rammed him from behind that time!") or has off-hand comments about EVERYTHING (usually spoken when they are said versus putting in a blog). I enjoy knowing that I'm not the only one that's had inappropriate thoughts (in my wife's opinion) about my sister-in-law, my mother-in-law, my child's Kindergarten teacher, my wife's best friend, my wife's best friend's daughter (finally she's 18 and the thoughts aren't so full of guilt anymore...lol).

Anyway, I guess you get the point. So, to go along with this point here are some random blogs that I came across today...yes, while I was working...

Mark Cuban's opinion post on Conan-Leno-NBC fiasco -- which I agree but don't agree with Mark that what is business without risk but NBC should have known that Leno's show was stupid and almost exactly like The Tonight Show. Why would anyone want to watch the same old gags, bits and funny classifieds? Boring! The Tonight Show has its time slot and works well there because it's AFTER all the good prime time shows no matter which network they are on. Prime time shows are like dinner and The Tonight Show is dessert. I didn't regularly watch it but that's just my own analogy (anal-oh-gee!, ha ha).

Now from Cuban's post, there were comments. And from these comments is where I found a few of the next blogs. I found it interesting how most of the commenters who put a web site had a Wordpress page versus Blogger.

The man who wants to kill crunches -- I thought I had a valid medical reason to not do sit ups but then I read some of the comments and my confidence is shaken in "the man's" findings. It hurts my feelings too that he compares you all (not me) to pigs.

Movies/Music/Mayhem -- goes to a Wordpress page but then you need to click for redirect.

Nick Pipitone -- pee pee tone, hee hee.

Critically Speaking

The Update...

Finger Food -- A Typepad blog...that place is still around?

Alright, I've got to go to class so that's enough sharing for now.

People are stupid #1000

I occasionally read Mark Cuban's blog. Not because I think he's an amazing writer or that I really give a shit about what he writes. I've just got nothing else to do at random moments throughout my day and I feel like seeing what ridiculous insight he might have in the future of the world.

Actually, he occasionally does have some interesting comments on certain things. Other times he takes his billionaire-ness a little over the top. I don't think it's that he pushes his knowledge and "expertise" on people as he just has his own opinion on things. I don't think he has any valuable knowledge to help my financially but he does make for a humorous read now and then.

Take, for instance, this post. The whole "pimping out his daughter" comment is funny but that's not what gets my attention.

I don't know what platform he is writing from (i.e. iPhone, Blackberry, Laptop, etc.) but it obviously doesn't have a spell check feature. I can forego the occasional keystroke miss but blatant ignorance is difficult to overlook. Again, I'm not professing to being a genius at everything because I almost lost (in my own mind) $1,000 last night while watching "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" because I couldn't remember what the hell a linking verb was. I would have gotten the answer on sheer guessing but...anyway...back on topic.

If you look at Cuban's post, 2nd paragraph 5th sentence, you'll see how he shows emphasis by upper-casing the word "LAZYNESS." Oh no, that's not my spelling. That's how he spelt/spelled it.

My point is/are (1) I don't question that Cuban is a smart guy at the things he is good at but perception is key in all things and when he can't spell worth shit it makes me question his overall intelligence, (2) I don't know why people think Cuban would be a good business partner other than a man with very, VERY deep pockets but I guess that's all that matters to start.

Cuban isn't a great or even good businessman. What he is, was lucky. He worked hard and built his own company (MicroSolutions) and sold it for a $2mil profit when the dot-com/computer boom was gaining in popularity. Then, he and a few buddies started something they wanted for themselves. It turned into something bigger and he just happened to be in the right place at the right time when Yahoo! wanted to purchase AudioNet or Broadcast.com. This made him a billionaire and now he had HUMONGOUSLY deep pockets to take a chance with other ventures. So far, those ventures have been good but I don't read anywhere that they (excluding the Mavs) are the same as the two previous endeavors.

Okay, so before I get too deep and useless, my final point is that why people think rich people like Cuban (and Donald Trump) are these great business-minded people is beyond me. Yes, they are rich mo-fos but it's not remotely because of their insight. Once you got money, it's easy to invest in other ventures. Some work some don't but you really don't feel the "don'ts" as much if the investment wasn't over done. Trump for example has probably lost as much money as he has gained. For the longest time, Trump was in the red. I'm not sure if he still is or not but people ask him for advice...why?

Anyway, once again, I've had to do some work since starting this post and I've lost my original "good and mindful" train of thought. So, I'll end here.

Wikimedia Foundation

I was Googled something and it gave me a link, among many, to Wikipedia. After clicking on the link I get this banner. Click the pic to see where it goes.

I don't mean to sound like a prick but I can't donate to something that I can't use as a verified, respected reference in my class essays and papers. I have used Wikipedia many, many times for general information searches about many topics but I have to find professor-authorized sources to actually quote or reference the material that may have been in the Wiki article. It's just the way it is in classes because Wikipedia is update-able by anyone and everyone so the resources can't always actually be reliable or credible.
Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet has free access to the sum of all human knowledge.
- Jimmy Wales
That's a bold and exciting statement by Mr. Wales. I think Wikipedia is a valuable, every day resource for finding information...Oh snap! Maybe that's why I should donate. I hate when I do that — find reason when I saw no reason before. Damn me!

I'll have to ponder this more and see if I decide to donate. Because then I should donate to other free, valuable resources, huh? Damn, damn, damn me!

Vanilla Ice...Ice, ice baby

From a Frontburner post to a New Times article.

It's a good read especially if you grew up during that time as I did for Rob's, Vanilla's, one year of stardom!

At the time of this post, I'm only about halfway through the article as I'm at work. But, so far, one of the funniest things Rob's said is on page 10. And I quote:
"It was a million dollars. I'd lick my mother's asshole for a million dollars."
Now that's funny!

Click to see the Ice, Ice Baby video on YouTube as embedding has been disabled.

By the way, did I mention there's like 6-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon between me and Ice? I went to high school with one of his dancers. We weren't best of buds but we knew each other. I remember he sort of quit school to go backup dance for Vanilla. Talk about a story to share with your kids.

Free speech flag

I posted here in regards to a site called Badmouth. I had to visit the sight and see what it was about other than the link from MSNBC.

This may be above my intelligence quotient but I'm not sure what this is other than a support for free speech flag. The article ended with "spread the word" so I am. You can click here to help yourself understand what this is for...if it helps...as I'm still confused...sort of. Let me know if you can make more sense out of it for me. I'm sure it makes sense. I'm just not getting it while I'm at work. I will have to ponder when I am at home, during my down time.

Visit Badmouth anyway. It looks like a decent site. I'm adding them to my Google Reader and we'll see how it goes.

A post of complete randomness

I got this link from an email listserv I am on. I don't drink but thought it was kind of funny. Personally, since I don't drink, I think the drink count might be off. I'd probably die after 15...10...or less! Oh, and it would probably happen in way less than three hours.

Saw this little gem when I was posting a comment to some newspaper article. I think it might have been on Pegasus News, but not totally sure as it was three days ago. Yes, it's taken me three days to post this. Anyway, I thought the first word was a funny word verification word to have to enter. I can see the law suits coming now as someone names 'Robards' is going to be pissed!

Serena Williams lost her temper

...but so did Roger Federer.

So, there was all this news about Serena Williams' melt down in the U.S.Open's Women's Championship match last Sunday.

She verbally abused a line judge. So what. When has that never happened? She apparently threatened the little line judge with physical violence. So what. When has that never happened. She summarily was given a code violation which resulted in a point penalty (she lost automatically lost a point) which just happened to be on match point. She lost the game, match, and was later fined something like $10,000--probably the amount she spends on weaves and hair care.

Anyway, people have blown this WAY out of proportion including the "journalists" at Tennis.com. All these stupid bastards and bitches are wanting Serena's head. Give me an effing break! She's done nothing different many before her and many that will come after her. Maybe the little line judge felt more threatened (for her life?) because Serena is black. Hell, I'd be scared just because Serena is built like a brick house...who cares what color her skin is?!

Granted, as many other articles have stated, we haven't had this kind of "bad" behavior in tennis since the times of Ilie Nastase and John McEnroe but what exactly does that mean? Should it NOT be tolerated to an extent just because it hasn't really been a part of the game in so long?

I do believe Serena deserved some sort of reprimand. She got it on the court according to the rules. Do the rules state that she should be further investigate and fined after the fact? I'd like to see those rules, if so. I think the tennis gods didn't exactly know what to do after the match. I think they were influence by the public, the press, and who the knows who else. She got her punishment. She lost the match. She didn't get to go to the finals and she didn't get to win the big paycheck for winning it all or the semi-big paycheck for runner-up. Now, if she even had won the semifinal match and moved on to the finals then now there would be a controversy that a lot of people would not have been happy with. If the altercation with the line judge had come on another point like 15-15 or 15-30 instead of 15-40, how would it have panned out? She could HAVE won the match and more people would be pissed. It's never ending.

I don't particularly like the Williams sisters. I don't like how when they came on tour doing well but when they lost, they would whine and cry about shit like I lost because there was a moth that flew onto the court during my serve so I double-faulted or some really lame excuse like that. They are really, really good players but they always used to point the finger instead of taking the complete and overall blame for losing a match. What did/can we expect from young girls thrust into the tennis spotlight at such a young age and fame that came along with winning. The main reason that I don't like them is because they are noisy ass bitches that I wish the WTA/USTA would do something about, along with Maria Sharapova and others. This screaming, yes that's what it is, while swinging the racket is ridiculous. Watching the S.Williams/K.Clijster match I was very surprised to hear or not hear Serena during a lot of points in that third set. I was shocked. I had to check my TV to make sure it wasn't on mute...which was obvious since I could here the ball hits and game point calls from the umpire.

My point is that what's done is done. Code violation. Point Penalty. Loss of match. And (I think) later fined...which I still think was ridiculous.

As I briefly mentioned there are "journalists" at Tennis.com that think Serena should be suspended for the year. The man with a woman's name, Mary Carillo, thinks her punishment was too light and deserves suspension--this coming from a NOBODY in the sport of tennis. Carillo is a broadcaster and not a very good one at that. She should keep her penis in her mouth and refrain from commenting, ever, on anything! These Tennis.com people likened it to that college football game a couple of weeks or so ago that had some dude sucker punch one of the members of the opponent's football team and how that guy who threw the punch will never play college ball again and maybe not even professionally. He felt Serena should get some similar discipline. I say this guy is a complete and utter fuckstick! They are two different things. Serena threatened. This other guy actually did something. Even in a court of law, these two different things (conspiracy or threatening to commit and committing) get different sentences.

So, you be the judge as long as you agree with me. Serena won't be around for more than a couple of years anyway. There are too many new up-and-comers that are catching on to the Williams' power game and they are getting the advantage. It's just the way the sport is...out with the old, in with the new.

I guess that concludes my rant on the Serena Williams debacle. Let's hope it has completely ended within the WTA/USTA. We'll see. I've heard they are having hearings on it or something. Those fuckers don't have shit else to do.

I did want to mention that Roger Federer had a sort of over-the-top (for him) verbal exchange during the men's final. It was funny because NBC (I think) picked up his profanity during the live broadcast. Of course, who would have thought Roger would have showed such emotion and temperment. I found it amusing. You had to see it because typing the situation just won't do it justice. Roger was completely in the right as he usually is. I think he got fined $1,500 a day or so later afterward for saying the words, "I don't give a shit!" and I think he did drop an f-bomb a few lines later. Again, very justified but the sensitive titties of the tennis referees felt like they have to do something to keep the mongrel players in line or before they know it, everyone is abusing the referees!

I say, "FUCKING GROW A PAIR!" and let the feelings flow...through the Force...and tell those bitchass people how you feel. Asshole tournament people! LOL!

I made a screen capture of the articles in case they don't last at Tennis.com as links are known to do: Serena Williams article, Roger Federer article.

Facebook Status

I don't know why some of my "friends" on Facebook think they need to use the status as a way to quote quotes said by other (famous) people?

I guess people can relate to the quote if they know it, who said it, or have experienced it but, to me, it's still stupid.

It doesn't make you sound more intelligent or wise. It just makes those that know you realize that you know how to use Google or you have a book of quotes. Either way, you are not as smart-looking as you think!

Now, quoting sayings, are sort of okay. You know maybe something like, "A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush" or "A glass half full versus a glass half empty" or "Shakin' it more than once is playing with it." You get the point.

I use it for things more like, "Should I be worried if my farts smell worse than road kill?" It's humorous and somewhat intelligent (as I'm worried about my health) but doesn't come across like I'm trying to say I'm smarter than you because I can quote a poet or author. I'm my own poet and author and no one can compare to me. Trust me! I'm one of a kind.

Stupid people at work

I really don't care what my coworkers do or don't do for their jobs during their day. If you want to slack off, do so, just don't let it affect me. When you say, "I'm too busy" and the boss comes to ask me to help, that's fine. The problem is when I come to your office with a question about YOUR job duty that I'm BAILING you out on and I see you surfing FaceBook or uploading your personal photos to your Gmail photos.

Furthermore, how dumb are you (same girl in the office) to send this long email this morning to your boss explaining the chest pains you have are like someone punching you in the chest and how it's affected you being able to sleep since like 1am this morning, yada, yada, yada...but then take the time and effort to post a status on your FaceBook profile? Normally, this isn't a big deal but when your boss just happens to be one of your friends on FB, I think it's DUMB. Strictly for the fact that as a person of above average intelligence, I would wonder to myself (if I were your boss) why you can take the time to log in to FB and post a status but you are unable to come to work or if you are SO in pain, how is it that you can function enough to update your FB status? Again, it's not that big a deal if you happen to have a FB application on your phone but I know this girl has an older flip phone that I'm pretty sure doesn't have a FB app. In the business world, this just looks bad for the employee from the bosses perspective.

As a coworker, once again it pisses me off because you emailed me to do some of your work when you finally decided that it was time to go to the ER or whatever! You shouldn't wait until the last moment to complete your work when you could have done it the day before because I saw you slacking then.

UPDATE: I went to lunch since the end of that last line so I lost my original line of thought...if it was a line at all. So, I'm done because I've moved on, for now.

Cremation urns that look like your dead loved ones

Saw this over on the Boing Boing site. Why the hell would you want an urn that looks like the head of your deceased love one? It's just creepy.

It reminds me of when my mom asked one of my nieces to take pictures of my dad's funeral AND of my dad in the open casket. WTF?! Just freaking creepy!

This is worse than taxidermy but I bet taxidermy of humans is next and would just be even creepier.

Did I mention the word creepy, yet?

Click here for the article on Boing Boing for as long as it lasts.

Testing linking GIFs

I have an animated GIF that I wanted to upload but it seems that blogger no longer does this. I remember way back in the day when I started they did...because a few of my animated GIFs I uploaded thru blogger worked like they should...but now they come across as just regular, static, non-animated pictures which defeats the whole purpose.

Anyway, testing this one from TinyPic which I don't think requires actual sign up as I just uploaded a GIF and didn't have to fill out any registration form. Hope it works and if it does, for how long?

Toilet blogging

As I sit here in stall #1 doing #2, I began to wonder why the hell it is so freaking hot in here.

I feel like I'm using a port-a-potty during a Saturday afternoon T-ball game at the local park. The only thing that is missing is the hundred other piles of shit at the bottom of the "pot" to make this necessary event more undesirable!

Two things just came to mind: 1) the campus must not have changed the system yet from "winter" mode to "hot-ass spring" mode since it is like 80+ degrees outside and 2) how weird should I feel blogging from the pooper about pooping?

I'm okay with it!
