The price people pay for Oakley Sunglasses

Now, granted the following glasses are "on sale" but the regular price is still a little insane. Just because noone has really purchased these (or have and these are just leftovers) doesn't mean that people don't pay stupidly high amounts of money for a pair of freaking sunglasses! It's amazing because you can probably get the same UV protection in a pair of sunglasses that costs $20, even $10.

So from my very informative deal shoppers at Slickdeals, comes these overprice shades:

These are the Oakley Titanium Whisker Sunglasses. Currently selling for $89.00 was $195.00.

These are the Oakley A Wire Sunglasses. Currently selling for $89.00 was $145.00.

A post of complete randomness

I got this link from an email listserv I am on. I don't drink but thought it was kind of funny. Personally, since I don't drink, I think the drink count might be off. I'd probably die after 15...10...or less! Oh, and it would probably happen in way less than three hours.

Saw this little gem when I was posting a comment to some newspaper article. I think it might have been on Pegasus News, but not totally sure as it was three days ago. Yes, it's taken me three days to post this. Anyway, I thought the first word was a funny word verification word to have to enter. I can see the law suits coming now as someone names 'Robards' is going to be pissed!

The Funniest Banking Joke in Ages!

I guess we all need a few laughs in this time of financial turmoil.

I was at my bank today; there was a short line. Just one lady in front of me, an Asian lady who was trying to exchange yen for dollars. It was obvious She was a little irritated.

She asked the teller, "Why it change? Yesterday, I get two hunat dolla fo yen. Today I only get hunat eighty? Why it change?"

The teller shrugged his shoulders and said, "Fluctuations."

The Asian lady says, "Fluc you white people too!"

Random picture taking while driving...don't try this at home

Took some pictures on my way to tennis Saturday morning. It's probably less safe to do this than texting while driving.

I thought I'd be a good samaritan and let other drivers know a particularly popular place for a speed trap. This is the overpass of Hurstview Drive over Hwy 183 right before the Precinct Line Road exit. The cop with the radar gun tends to stand on either side of the big green sign. If I recall correctly, they usually have a good showing near the end of the month. While radar cop is up top, there are a few boys in blue in cars just after the overpass or just after the Precinct Line Road exit. Mainly stupid people still get pulled over during these times. I'm warning you now so don't be stupid.

This is a TxDPS information sign. I've always wondered how these are okay but the ones that used to be in DFW Airport have been removed because of the stupid drivers that would slam their breaks on to read the signs to find out about their flight arrivals and/or departures. I guess they cause a lot of rear-end collisions. Lawsuits ensued. Signs were turned off. I haven't been through DFW Airport in a long time so I don't know if they are still standing or if they have been removed due to the revamping of the airport. Anyway, apparently there is a Denver or Denver City, Texas (I did not know that but I'm not some freaking geography or topologist) and some child was kidnapped that day.

I was on Mockingbird Lane just off of Hwy 183/I35. I was driving along and saw this cool looking bus. Reminded me of one of those London-type buses. The closer I got, the more I realized what it actually was. It's like one of those mobile billboards but, to me, it wasn't as well thought out as the other types. I didn't get a good look as driving, taking pictures AND asking questions to other drivers is REALLY not a good idea but I wonder if this is used as a regular transportation bus. It looked like it had all the windows and at least some of the seats. All I really saw in clear view though was the driver because he was driving on the right side of the vehicle while I was on the left. Therefore, we passed each other very closely. Anyway, thought it was cool and interesting to see.

Beretta Elite II CO2 Airgun Pistol

As the post title states, this is the Beretta Elite II CO2 Airgun Pistol. You can find it here at Sports Authority. If the link expires, go to the Sports Authority web site and either search this item number (3257517) or CO2 air pistol and select the Beretta brand link.

I purchased this about a week ago at the brick and mortar store down the street. I actually paid $54.99 + tax. I picked up a box of sixteen CO2 canisters. I thought I had a box of or quite a few BBs at home but I was mistaken. I just had about thirty inside the chamber of my Daisy BB/Pellet rifle. I'll be making another run soon to get the BBs for more fun.

I mainly purchased this for tagging the gosh darn squirrels in my backyard. The little bastards keep dropping pecans, leaves and just all kinds of shit upon my back driveway and occasionally on my vehicles when I park them back there. I've had a few opportunities to tag the little bastards but I'm not sure if it's my inaccuracy or the gun isn't powerful enough to penetrate the hide. I think I'm hitting them and they just have a tough hide. I sort of know this when I have hit them in the past in previous yards with my ten-pump rifle. The BBs are very penetrating but the pellets (in the rifle) usually did a good job.

I guess I don't really care to kill them (or do I). I'm just hoping that if I at least keep hitting them it will scare them away. If not, I will look into reloading the rifle and making the bastards bleed.

The cool, and dangerous, thing about this gun is that it looks EXACTLY like a real 9mm Beretta...my real 9mm Beretta. There are some subtle and obvious differences upon closer inspection but I wouldn't recommend pulling this out in front of anybody, especially a cop. You may not live to tell about it!

Anyway, next thing to purchase/refill, is my paintball gun...well, my nephew's paintball gun but since we no longer talk and I have it in my possession still, I guess it IS my paintball gun. I got to get some air put into the CO2 canister I have and get some paintballs. I bet that will make the squirrels think about coming around these here parts again! That is as soon as I find out which freaking rubber maid bin it is stored in in my garage.

Lie To Me

This is Brian Grazer, Executive Producer of the television show, Lie To Me. Not a lot to say, just that he's got some funny ass hair like Kramer from Seinfeld.

Just some quips on the show...I have only seen season one. My coworker saw a few episodes on TV, thought the show was pretty good and then found that the show already had season one on DVD. She watched it and shared it with me.

I just finished season one myself. It is actually a pretty decent show. A little far fetched on some of the facial recognitions and shit but still pretty neat. I believe the study of facial "ticks" is true but I don't think a person can be so exact in all of his observations.

The main character guy, Dr. Lightman...played by Tim Roth, is pretty smart. He kind of seems stressed all the time but I guess there is reason and they'll let us know more as the show continues. The funny thing about Tim Roth playing this character is that I recall always seeing him as the bad guy, villain. He's actually playing a good guy in this TV series.

The 2nd 'main' character, Dr. Foster...played by Kelli Williams, is pretty hot. She's worth a view. I don't know for sure what else she's been in but I feel like I have seen her before.

One final note...I just saw the 2nd or 3rd to the last episode (Season 1 Disk 4). I saw one of the doctor dudes from ER. It is Mekhi Phifer. Seen him before in movies like Dawn of the Dead and Soul Food. Anyway, I guess he found himself a new day job since leaving ER.

I haven't started watching season two though I believe it is the current season. I just don't know what day it is on, I haven't looked to find out and I wasn't so sure that I would like the show when I started watching it. I'll wait until the second season comes on DVD or I can watch for free online (which I'm sure it already is on the network website or Hulu).

Oh yeah, one more thing. The ex-wife of Dr. Lightman is played by Jennifer Beals...yes, that Jennifer Beals, what a feeling!

New sales gimmick (Rooms To Go)

I guess whatever it takes to get the people inside the stores. I'm not sure that an at least $800+ kid's bedroom suite is worth spending for a free $299 Xbox 360. Of course, I'm sure their "special bedroom packages" are way more than $800!

I recently purchased a new dining room table with eight chairs (yes, it's that fucking big). I signed up for notifications via email. I don't mind as it's not my main email. I really don't care to receive them but you never know when you might get that "special" deal. Most of the "deals" are crap for me because I'm not prompted to buy things from subliminal advertising. If I need something, I go look. If I find something I like that I needed, I buy it. Simple as that.

Anyway, I just thought it was funny to see a furniture store throwing in a free Xbox 360 to basically bribe people to buy kid's room furniture. They might have something especially for the rich people with kids. If a rich brat complains and whines enough, the rich parents will give in just to shut them the fuck up.

Oh well, it's not like it's the first time I've seen such "bribery" to get people buying shit they don't need.

Goodbye and Good Riddance!

College (The Movie)

I watched a movie last night called, "College," starring Drake Bell and some others. And yes, that is Drake from Drake & Josh and anyone who has young children should know who he is or at least heard of him in some form or fashion.

Anyway, the movie was funny in spots, very funny in others, but never worthy of spending money to watch it. I don't even know if this movie was put to theaters or straight to DVD. I do know that Drake Bell is probably no longer a "spokesperson" for Disney. I'm not sure if his show was canceled before or after this movie was made but the movie was dated as of 2007. I'm sure a quick Google could solve the mystery but right now it's not important enough for me to do so.

The movie had its very gross and funny parts like when Drake's character and his two sidekicks are visiting a college and end up unknowingly becoming pledges in a fraternity. Some of the things they showed were just way too funny and gross...even if they weren't real, the thought and image they provoked was quite surreal.

The movie was basically like Revenge of the Nerds and they didn't disappoint on the gratuitous boob flashing or hot, bikini-clad sorority babes!

I probably wouldn't rent this movie if I had to pay too much for it. I think Blockbuster has a 1-day rental fee of $.99 or $1.99. The latter may even be too much but if you have some spare change you found in between the car or couch seats, then maybe you could splurge. Otherwise, find a sucker friend to pay if he/she hasn't already rented it...if they did, then you could use the spare change for Taco Bell.

Marge Simpson is the bomb!

Congrats, Marge! Although I don't think this is going to help reach a younger-aged demographic for Playboy like they hope. When everyone from an 8-yr-old boy to a 90-yr-old man can access naked pictures of women on the Web on a daily/hourly basis, why would someone pay for a yearly subscription to a one-time-a-month-delivery of magazine with the same (or very similar) photos? We are an immediate gratification society at this time.

Besides, Playboy, Penthouse and others are still TOO full of extraneous pages of ads, cologne pages, and useless information. It's gotten better than back in the days of the 70s and 80s and even 90s but when you cut out all the crap men don't care about, you'll have a magazine about 1/10th the size.

Anyway, I read that Marge just graces the cover but we won't be seeing her "Marge mounds."

The Mangroomer

The head of our IT department at work forwarded an email regarding a good deal on a netbook at Fry's. It is a decent deal especially for an 11.6" screen, 250GB HD, and 2GB RAM.

Anyway, while at Frys.com I decided to see what their weekly specials were and I came across this little gem (see pic). It's called the Mangroomer (at Fry's, at Amazon). It's weird how it's advertised so blatantly as a "man groomer" and how the picture on the front of the case shows where to use it.

For more enjoyment, read some of the reviews on Amazon. Some of those guys who have purchased and used are hilarious.

The Mangroomer! Don't delay, get yours today!

MY NEW ROLEX

My neighbors...the lesbians...next door asked me what I would like for my birthday.

I was quite surprised when they gave me a Rolex

It was very nice of them, but I think they misunderstood me when I said,

"I wanna watch."

More P90X info

I just wanted to mention that I weighed myself last night and this morning. I am weighing in at 215 lbs. I think the time of day affects this, maybe because of what I ate hasn't digested from my stomach and been removed through...well, you know...but I have steadily weighed between 215-216 lbs the past few days.

Again, for me, it's not so much about the weight to start as it is about getting "fit." I think the weight loss will come as I exercise and continue to build more muscle, lean or otherwise. I'm sure if I was more strict with my diet the pounds would fall off more quickly. I'm just lazy and I know I probably won't buy or cook the foods they recommend. However, I may give in to their nutrition plan since I've been thinking about it more. I just can't decide.

Also, I haven't told anyone about my attempt at P90X except for the wife. I told her not to tell anyone either. I mainly do this because I didn't want to start, let everyone know, and then quit like I'm prone to doing. So far, I haven't quit. I have had to push a day back here or there like my days right now are a day or two behind...day 1 was day 2, day 2 was day 4, day 3 will be today (day 5), day 4 will be day 6, and day 6 will be day 7, then I should be back on track for Day 1 Week 4 on Monday since day 7 is actually rest or stretch. (fingers crossed to stay on track)

Anyway, the wife thinks the love handles have dwindled a bit and she was quite into the "new feel" of my sides during a "session" Wednesday night. I told her I didn't think or see it but she was emphatic. I just know that I continue to do the routine in the best of form possible and keep going. Hopefully, I will have the body I've never had before. I've been skinny-fit but not fit-fit. Know what I mean?

I feel better and I really like Plyometrics. Tonight will be Shoulders & Arms which is also nice (the shoulder parts anyway). I just think about what I could look like in ninety days and I get excited. Even if it's not "Master Tony ripped," it should still be better than where I was three weeks ago or even now.

I keep up the hope!

P90X - The Proof, The "Suffering" - Day 3, Week 1 to Day 3 Week 3

It’s been a while but I’m on week 3 day 3 (or day 15 total) of the P90X-perience. You liked that, huh? If you aren’t familiar, the workout is over 6 days with the option for the 7th which is either rest or Stretch X. I didn’t stretch the past two Sundays (my 7th day as I started on a Monday and go, for sure, through Saturday) because I played tennis for 4+ hours on Saturday AND Sunday so I figured that was my “Stretch X” or even a good workout.

So, let me get right to the recap of days 3-10. I don’t think I’ll type for each day as weeks 1-3 are the same set of exercises over the 6 (or 7) days.

  • Day 3, Shoulders and Arms
As stated previously, I don’t work out and haven’t done so in a very long time when I did. These exercises are new to my muscles therefore I think I’m wimpier during them and more sore after them. That’s not saying that I am a complete and utter pussy. I did the routine. It just was difficult and painful, especially after already being sore from days 1 and 2. I wasn’t that sore after day 1, chest and back. I got a little more sore before day 2 workout of plyometrics. Before day 3, I really didn’t know if I was going to make it. My triceps hurt badly. My biceps hurt badly. My pectorals hurt. My lower body was sore after plyometrics—I contribute this less sore to me being a regularly scheduled tennis player which already works my calves, thighs, and hamstrings although these exercises are different the muscle structure is already somewhat there. That’s my opinion anyway. That means I’m a lower-body strength person and the upper body could use some serious work.

Shoulders and arms does this. It kind of adds to the already used muscles from chest and back because there are sort of similar bends of the arms. The sitting lifts were loads of fun. Good movement for the upper shoulder and back. Master Tony says, “Everyone does 16.” That’s everyone but me. I did do 12 with 15lbs on the first round but didn’t want to overdo it as there is a repeat. The second round I was able to do 15. Form is important and I think I got it down with the second attempt. There were a few other exercises that were mothers but I’m not too motivated at this time to provide much detail. Just know, they suck, they hurt but they are also fun. My soreness was in my mind the whole time during the workout but it did not hinder me like I expected it too. I did get shaky on a few moves but I maintained.

  • Day 4, Yoga
Still a bit sore in the tricep/bicep area, I was looking forward to yoga as a more relaxing time. Was I ever fucking wrong! I have a new appreciation for those people that do yoga. I ignorantly assumed it was like an old-person’s exercise like maybe Tai Chi or something where it’s about stretching and movement and balance. Yoga is all these and much more. I don’t think my body was built to bend or just move in the manner Master Tony requires. There were some movements like bringing my knee up to my chest after the downward dog I was like, “WTF ever!” I think part of the difficulty was my spare tire but the other part is I just am not that flexible! Like I said, I have a lot more respect for those people that do yoga and can move/bend like it requires. I’m also thoroughly impressed with Master Tony being able to do these moves (which I’m sure there wouldn’t be a DVD for it if he couldn’t) while looking to be so muscular and physically “big.” It’s truly impressive. Maybe with time, I too will be able to bend like Master Tony.

Because of my limited flexibility, yoga was somewhat more difficult than the weight exercises. The transitions from one pose to the other are inconceivable without more flexibility. I had to modify the graceful movements of Master Tony and crew to choppy-but-I-got-there movements. Again, with time, hopefully I will be a graceful eagle soaring from one position to another.

I appreciated yoga for the extra stretching of the muscles…all muscles, mind you…to help get more of the soreness out.

  • Day 5, Legs and Back
Master Tony may say that Plyometrics is the mother of all P90X workouts but legs and back is no slacker! There is one move where you lean against a wall with your back straight. You start out with the thighs at a 45 degree angle for like 15 seconds or so. Then you lower to a 90 degree angle for about the same amount of time. I believe this went on for a minute maybe longer because it hurt so gosh darn much I can’t remember the time correctly but the pain and burn I will never forget.

There are some other exercise done but you can tell which one I remember. Again, I fell that I already have somewhat strong legs but this exercise was a total different way to work them.

  • Day 6, Kenpo X
Day 6 for me falls on a Saturday. Saturday mornings I play tennis from about 8:30am to 12pm. I hadn’t played tennis in two weeks because of all the rain we’ve had in Dallas. I was still a little sore in the upper body and my lower body was a little drained and loosy-goosy from the previous Day 5 Legs and Back. Granted the exercise movements may not be the same but I made an executive decision to pass on Kenpo X. After such a long layoff from tennis my back gets sore from my service motion and I guess overall ground strokes. My body was sore to begin with and now it was even more sore and weaker. I justified passing by saying the tennis workout was four hours versus 30mins to an hour or Kenpo.

  • Day 7, Rest or Stretch X
I played tennis again on Day 7 from about 8am to 2pm. It wasn’t high-intensity tennis as on Saturday but it was hot and I did get good exercise. Besides, I’m not sure I know where to find Stretch X. I don’t think it’s a DVD. If it is, it didn’t come in my package or maybe I haven’t look well enough for it. I will try again. I like a day of rest, especially after all the tennis, but I think I prefer to keep the P90X going if I’m not doing long hours of playing tennis. I also won’t skip an exercise that isn’t like Yoga, Kenpo or Stretch even if I have already played tennis. I think I like and require the other exercises for now.

  • Day 8, Chest and Back
I’ve repeated Day 1. It wasn’t as painful as the first time around. My muscles are still pretty tired and drained from the work out but I’m more prepared for what to do and my muscles know what to expect as well.

  • Day 9, Plyometrics
Once again the mother of all P90X workouts, was just that. I enjoy this one more than others. I think it’s because most if not all of the moves are easier for me as they are my lower body muscles versus the upper body ones.

  • Day 10, Shoulders and Arms
Shoulders and arms must be the second mother of all work outs. As with the other work outs, I feel better now that I’ve done it once. I know what to expect. I know to use better form. And my muscles have experience it once so it’s not as vicious the second time around.

  • Day 11, Yoga
Unfortunately, this time I had to miss yoga. I have a sick child and had to “baby” them because it could be a relapse of the flu of swine. I do what I need to do to make sure the kids feel safe in all ways and at all times. I did take a short walk. Not too long or too far because the rain interrupted it.

  • I think that brings me up to speed with the whole P90X-perience thus far. Hopefully all will continue to go well and I will get better at doing the exercises. I don’t expect at this time to look like Master Tony or his minions in the video. I would be happy with dropping about 30-40lbs and have better strength and stamina.

On that note, I had weighed myself about a week or so before starting P90X. I was 226 lbs. I weighed myself the morning of Day 8 and I registered at 217 lbs. Out of curiosity if I really lost any weight, I weighed again the night of Day 9 and I registered at 219 lbs. Between the night of Day 9 and the night of Day 10, I weighed a couple of more times and I seem to have stabilized at 219 lbs. Now how much this had to do with P90X or steps I had sort of taken a few days before, I’m not sure. I’m not complaining.

I will continue with the regimen. I am not completely following the nutritional requirements but I am also not eating as big as portions as I used to. I also make choices like instead of bacon cheeseburger I have a Healthy Choice steamer or instead of a barbecue bacon burger I will have a hamburger.

Next week is week 4 and it starts a new routine for the week. I’m excited but also nervous as I don’t know if I fully excelled at weeks 1-3. Although Master Tony says, “Do what you can do, just keep good form,” I feel like maybe I should have been able to complete more push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups or whatever than I have. I definitely can do more than before and they aren't quite as painful compared to when I started but it almost seems like I’m unfulfilled at this point. The workouts are intense and I feel drained but good afterward. It’s just a feeling. I guess maybe I should wait to see what week 4 has in store before I start complaining.
