Lagging behind and never enough time

Well, I never did get around to typing about the Mavs’ game 6 loss. I won’t either. I’m over it now. No reason to bring up the past after it’s been a week or so. We forge ahead and hope they’ll continue to be a force to be reckoned with throughout the season and well into the playoffs/finals.

Anyway, lately my days are long and my nights (sleep time) are short. This human sexuality class is a lot of reading. I just don’t seem to have the needed time or discipline to do the reading like I should. With work, kids, and just personal preference between fun or studying, I’m lagging behind in the reading. Luckily, the grades I have had are pretty decent. We just took our midterm last Monday which we haven’t gotten our grades back from so my decent overall grade could become not-so-decent.

In class on Friday, the prof said that she was curving the grades and didn’t want to give them back to us until after she curved them. Apparently the range was 58 to 98 with the average being 78 (I think that’s what she said). I was like, ‘Holy shit!” I feel like I made above the 78, at least mid 80s, but who the hell knows for sure until we get the grade back? I remember on my second exam in my microeconomics class that I thought I did in the 90s. I get the friggin’ thing back and I got a 56. It was a shocker for sure! So, that’s why I’m sweating it wondering what I actually got on this midterm.

Waiting, waiting, waiting.

I guess that’s about all the excitement I have to share for now.

Heart-shaped butt, Tera Patrick - rated PG-13

Before I get started in the next post about the crappy Mavs vs Heat game last night and all the previous bullshit games, I had to post something to calm me down. Well calms me in one way and rises the blood in another...

Tera Patrick in FHM looks hot! Click on picture to see a little more.

Save Screech...well his house, anyway

With a name like Dustin Diamond, you would think he'd not be having money troubles. That's like a male porn star's name or a wrestler's.

I read that when he went on the Howard Stern Show that they asked him about the rumor saying he is HUNG. Apparently he whipped it out and proved the rumor to be true. If he was smart, he would have gotten paid to flash his pecker.

Once a nerd, always a nerd...this one just isn't smart!

Mavs suck! Mavs suck! Mavs suck! Mavs suck!

Okay, I know that's a little harsh. I'm still supporting them. I'm just very pissed off at them.

I am sick and tired of the commentators and announcers saying Dwayne Wade is carrying the Heat (even though he is) and he's turning up the heat (pun intended) all by himself and leading his team to the championship.

Okay, all this is pretty much true. BUT...the Mavs are not playing like the Mavs in games 1 and 2. I mean come on. The Mavs score 90+ points. They did it last night as well but that was at the end of OT.

It's not the defense of Miami has gotten better either. It's that the Mavs suck! LOL! I'll calm down now.

It's just...Mavs suck!

I've got to end this now because I'm getting angry all over again from staying up until midnight to see them lose...again...the third in a row.

Hopefully, they'll feel the home court and play much better for games six and seven for the championship!

That's right. Even in all my bitterness, I think they can still pull out the overall victory.

So...Mavs suck...Go Mavs! :-)

Dallas Mavericks sucked in game 4

All I have to say is...

F*cking Mavs!

They still better win the championship or Dallas is going to burn....burn, baby, burn!

Mavs got stomped

That's all I got to say about that.

Commercials that racially profile

Just a quick note while watching the Mavs/Heat game.

I noticed this before but just now have had time to post anything.

If you have been or are watching the NBA finals, pay attention to the commercials. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed but it seems to me that 9 out of 10 commercials are tailored to or contain mainly/only black people.

I was watching game three and I think all the commercials I saw were ninety percent aimed or portrayed by black people. I just saw a commercial for the Denali. No actors were shown—it had fencers so they were fully covered—but tell me how many white people watching basketball would want a Denali?

There’s a cell phone commercial too. I don’t recall which service but the announcer is calling a player’s name during introduction. However, he’s busy yapping on the phone in the locker room with his woman. There is another one, maybe the same cell phone company, and all the actors in the commercial are black.

Do you think this is intentional targeting of a certain demographic? I think so!

End of vacation, Mavs/Heat game 4

Not that anyone cares but I’ve been pretty busy, almost too busy, to post. I’ve been on vacation this week but I still had to go to my summer school class and learn about human sexuality.

Between work before vacation, visits from out-of-town family, trying to enjoy my vacation, trying to entertain my wife and kids while on vacation and having to—but failing so far—read 1-2 chapters a day from my main book and 1-2 short articles from two supplementary books, I’ve just not had a “real” open moment to do jack squat. I really need to catch up on my reading, especially since tomorrow is Friday, vacation is over, and my midterm is Monday. The prof gave us part of our study guide today – it is three pages long. Tomorrow, she’s going to give us part two. Ain’t that some shit!? I just want to pull off at least a C+ but I’ll take anything higher as well. So far, I have an A- on my first journal and a 97 on my first quiz. That’s all the grades we have so far. We took a second quiz yesterday.

Fingers crossed on doing well in this class. It covers two classes under the general education curriculum with one class so it will benefit me.

Anyway, Mavs versus Heat game 4 just started so I probably won’t type much more.

Speaking of the Mavs/Heat game 3, I just want the commentators to know that Wade didn’t win it for the Heat! Granted he had a good run in the last 6 or so minutes but he didn’t WIN it for the Heat. What happened is the Mavs decided to sit on their 15pt(?) with around five minutes left. They were dribbling down into the offensive zone and the guy who took it in would hold the ball. He’d hold it and hold it until there was like eight seconds left on the twenty-four second shot clock. Instead of passing it around to one of his teammates to help run the clock AND run the defense ragged, he would hold it and then shoot it himself. Well, when he’d shoot it, most of the time he was at the top of the three-point arc or just within it. That’s not a smart play. So, the Mavs did this like 10+ times – the drain-the-clock-miss-the-shot tactic. All the while, the Heat – mainly Wade – would take the rebound and put in their shot with the occasional three-point shot going in. That’s what did the Mavs in!

Now, I’m all for the rag-the-clock-and-get-your-two strategy when you have a decent lead but when you aren’t making the two you need to at least maintain the lead, it poses a significant problem for winning the game when the clock reaches 0:00 in the final period.

Truthfully, the Mavs are a way better team and they should have taken this series in four but we’ll take five. There’s no money in a quick series. I hear that the home teams make at least like two million dollars per game and that’s just in ticket sales and concessions. Anyway, that’s my take on the finals in ANY sport except hockey since they don’t get the same TV time and popularity so quick or short, the hockey playoffs/finals is all the same.

Well, I’m going to watch the game and maybe read some for my class. I doubt the latter happens but I’ll try.

Tons to do and no time to do it all

Have you ever felt that realization that your family is stupid? Your entire family?

I have, more than once but less than one hundred times.

It is sad really. They think they are intelligent but they really are just stupid-ass mutts.

I’m so glad I have extricated myself from the litter. Unfortunately, they are still related to me. Oh well.

I’m watching the 2006 Men’s French Open Final between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

I still have a 750 word paper to write for my Human Sexuality class that I haven’t even begun but is due tomorrow by 10 a.m.

And I still have guests to entertain.

The busy life of a middle-age, working, family man and college student is never ending!

I can’t wait to be finished with school, working and responsibility. :-)

Dallas Mavericks (Mavs) take Game 1

Final score: 90 - 80

Yippeekiyay!

Two questions:
  1. As a professional basketball player, whether you are a "star" player or not, how the hell do you air ball a shot?
  2. How the hell does Jason Terry miss an easy, break-a-way lay up or dunk? Maybe it was the indecisiveness which to do but either way, he's a professional so he should not have missed!
I'm out!

Dallas Mavericks versus Miami Heat Game 1

Go MAVS!

Up by two at the start of the 2nd half.

Gotta go study...while watching the game, or course!

By the way, this is what I am studying for a quiz tomorrow...good times!

Could be a scene from a horror movie

This isn't a very clear picture but I was shooting from inside my house behind my front door though two panes of dirty glass and a screen.

Anyway, I came home during lunch today and saw this worker relaxing in the most ridiculous spot. I could just see it accidentally, miraculously, turning on and this poor guy being mixed with the tree chips.

More French Open, class, tiredness

I really should be going to sleep about now but I am watching my TiVo French Open. I’m watching Nadal vs Djokovic. Although I already know that Nadal wins, I just like watching some good plays in the tennis matches. Freakish, I know.

I just got done about an hour ago reading a couple of my stories for my human sexuality class that I am taking. This shit is killing me although we haven’t had any grades yet. I turned in my first assignment yesterday and had a quiz today but neither has been graded. This damn class is a lot – I mean a lot – of freaking reading. I have three books to read from. The major textbook and then two smaller books from which she assigns side reading outside of the chapters in the book. The chapters are very wordy and boring and monotonous…did I mention boring or wordy, yet? Anyway, I’m trying to stay on top of things because this class gives me two credits – one for cultural formations and one for western societies (or something close to that) – from just one term. Also, it’s so much compressed in such a short time. In fact, I have just three more weeks of class after this week and the summer one session is done. That’s a bonus but again, I’m in brain-drain with work, reading, kids, wife, and still trying to fit in some TV watching and personal fun.

This Friday we have some family from Illinois coming in town to visit until next Tuesday. I’m on vacation from work next week partly because of their visit but I still have to attend class from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Sucks, but what can I do. If I’m to complete this degree before retirement, I’m going to have to continue at least at the current pace and I may see that slip of paper called a diploma in about 5-7 years.

So, not that anyone cares, I may be out of touch after Friday night until next Tuesday night or longer. Depends on how much I get stuck with reading and entertaining.

Damn, it’s 12:08 a.m. I really need to get the hell to bed. Work time comes early and I’ve been feeling tired all week even though I’ve pretty much gotten at least 6-8 hours of sleep a night. Now it’s not continuous but I still shouldn’t feel THIS tired.

Oh well!

Got a few more spam emails that I wanted to share with the blogosphere today…
Your wife prefers your dogs penis to yours?

Since ancient times men were trying to enlarge their dicks. Today we created Penis Enlarge Patch especially for you.
Again, with marketing like this, I can’t see why there aren’t people flocking to their businesses.

Sexy belly picture - rated PG-13

I am supposed to be typing up my at least 500 word paper on human sexuality when I remembered a picture someone showed me that DEFINITELY brings human sexuality to mind.

I mean look at this picture. Is this just not the sexiest? Leaves so much to the imagination that it's unnerving.

Mavs, The French Open - a boring post

Sweet, there is a sport god. The Mavs overcome a 15-pt deficit to take win the Western Conference finals. Hell yeah! All that I’ve read when Dallas was supposed to win in five is that the Miami Heat is not a formidable team and no where near the skills and talent as the Spurs, Suns or even the Mavs. So, we look forward to tip off on Thursday night.

I TiVoed the French Open play from yesterday and am watching it now. I was watching “live” play today and it was the match between James Blake and Gael Monfils. I say “live” because Monfils had already beaten Blake and they were supposedly showing a live broadcast. In fact, “real live” matches were being played but not shown. That was pissing me off. So, anyway I’m now watching my TiVoed episodes of Monk since I’m not getting to watch the matches I want to for the French Open.

It’s a boring post I know so I’ll maybe type something better later.

Dallas Mavericks, The French Open and Working

Game six for the Mavs vs the Suns is tonight. I’m a little bummed that I don’t get to watch it. I’ll be working today/tonight from like noon to midnight. A couple of friends of mine have a job their doing and they asked me to help. I really didn’t know it would be like for twelve hours but they told me they’d pay me $250. I figured that was a good trade off for giving up my tennis this morning, my lounging around all day watching the French Open and then watching the Mavs game.

We’ll see.

Go Mavs! Go James Blake!

Nikki and Paris Hilton (warning PG-13 material ahead)

All the hoopla of Paris Hilton this, Paris Hilton that.

I always thought Nikki was the better looking of the two.

This definitely backs my cause...

In the news 06/02/2006

Why would a teenage boy not want to have "inappropriate conduct" with a teacher like this? Unless, the snitch is a boy that isn't gettin' it. Always some stupid bastard not getting any having to ruin it for those that are. I say hunt him down and hog tie his legs to his balls. See how he likes it then.

The stuff people come up with. If it sells, why didn't I think of it? If it doesn't, I'm glad I'm not the crackpot who thought of it.

Jenny McCarthy is still hot

I know she is a little goofy and people always like to razz on her but she's still pretty hot. I've always had a thing for her ever since I saw her way back when in Playboy. She did another layout (I think that's where this pic came from). She was pretty hot in her dumb ass movie "Dirty Love" but she did show her boobies in it so it gets a sixty degree thumbs up!
