This is what is wrong with the economy.

From Yahoo Sports
Manny Ramirez and the Dodgers officially agreed Wednesday on a $45 million, two-year contract that keeps him with the NL West champions. The slugger can void the second season of the deal and again become a free agent.

This is ONE man. He is not the entire team but somewhere someone said he is worth it.

How long is baseball season, about 6-8 months with the playoffs and World Series? I'm not a baseball fan so I don't know for sure. Or how about there are 162 games in a regular season. That's 1.38 million a game he earns in one regular season. I'm sure he has some options for bonuses if the team makes the playoffs and/or wins the championship. When he's not batting, he sits in left field. How much action does he really do/see? I don't think very much compared to a hockey player, football player, or even a tennis player.

But I guess it's about what sport brings in the money and who on that team can help fill the seats and sell the extra merchandise. For some reason, baseball still beats out hockey and tennis. I just don't understand why.

Goodbye and Good Riddance!
